Actually sideways/tilted is one of the better ways of shooting single handed as your arm has a natural rotation at the joints we dont typically hold things 90° 90° vertically from ourselfs (parrallel)

Is never been about if the gun works doing it or not. But if you are shooting something bigger than a 22 and trying to keep your barrel on target holding it sideways is about the worst angle to hold it at.
